Block Party初の海外を拠点とするDJをゲストに迎えます。
CoryはDazzle Drumsの楽曲をリリースしている〈Centric Music〉のオーナーでありプロデューサー。長年培ったDJとしての感覚をレーベル運営に生かしつつ、毎年のWMCの参加などDJとしても積極的に活動しています。UK/Londonの視点で解釈されたソウルフル＆テックなハウスミュージックが、USテイストのハウスを支持する傾向のあるBlock Partyのお客さんにどう受け入れられ、そして化学反応を起こすか。また、音楽を楽しもうという大前提のもとに、パーティで異文化交流がしっかりなされるかどうか。このあたりが今回の挑戦でもあり、とても楽しみな面でもあります。おそらくいつものサンデー・アフタヌーンとは180度違った日になるはず。お楽しみに！
■Cory Soulfuzion■
Cory has been a record collector since 1985, which led him to start spinning records as a DJ in the late 80s. He started by mixing funk, disco, rare groove and rap, before house music became part of his repertoire as a DJ in the mid 90s.
He took inspiration from hearing deep house in clubs. In 2000 he visited the Winter Music Conference in Miami, and by August of that year had landed himself a residency for a ’popular dance brand’. This led him to spin in various far flung places, with highlights including a MTV party in Croatia and sets at El Divino in Ibiza and at Pacha’s London club.
In 2004, Cory started his own club night, which gave him full control and the opportunity to let new DJs spin. By 2005, Cory was freelancing as a DJ, and highlights of his recent career include playing for Circo Loco, Soul on the beach at the WMC in Miami and touring Japan.
Centric Music was launched by Cory in September 2006. The label is committed to releasing quality house music - no fillers. The label's Manager and resident DJ, Cory has been a part of the UK house scene for over 10 years, having held residencies at Pacha (London) Ministry of Sound (London) ,Wagg Club (Paris),and Zinc (Dubai) whilst working for one of London's leading Club brands.
Cory Soulfuzionは1985年からレコード収集を開始。80年代の終わりにDJをスタート。90年代半ばにハウスをレパートリーに加える前はFunk, Disco,Rare GrooveやRapを織り交ぜてプレイしていたが、クラブで流れるディープハウスに深いインスピレーションを受けて、2000年には毎年マイアミで開催されるWMC（Winter Music Conference）を体験。その年の秋には〈popular dance brand〉のレジデントDJの座を獲得し、そこからクロアチアのMTVやイビザのEl Divino、そしてロンドンの〈Pacha〉などの様々なパーティに参加するようになる。
2004年に自身のクラブをスタートさせたCoryは、そこで得た権限を使って、新しいDJ達にDJの経験を積む機会を与えた。そして2005年にはフリーのDJとして独立。最近の目立った活動としては、イビザ発祥のモンスターパーティ〈Circo Loco〉への出演や、世界のトップDJ やダンスミュージックレーベル等が集結するWMCのオフィシャル・レジェンド・パーティー〈Soul On The Beach〉の出演、そして日本でのDJツアーなどがある。
2006年夏にCoryはレーベルCentric Musicを創立。純度の高いハウス・ミュージックをリリースし続けている。レーベルマネージャーでもありレジデントDJでもある彼は、10年以上UKハウスシーンの一端を担う活躍をしており、ロンドンの著名なクラブで活動をしながら、ロンドンの〈Ministry Of Sound〉〈Pacha〉、パリの〈Wagg Club〉、ドバイの〈Zinc〉でも定期的にDJを行っている。
